Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has rejected being described as an activist, saying he sees himself instead as an “online police” whose role is to hold both individuals and public institutions accountable.
He made the remarks during an interview on Arise 360 on Arise News on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.
‘Everyone’s Business Is My Business’
Explaining his approach, VeryDarkMan said his content is driven by accountability rather than activism.
“I’m not an activist, I’m an online police. I hold people accountable and also hold the government accountable. That’s why I put my mouth in everybody’s business because everyone’s business is my business,” he said.
During the interview, he discussed his rise as a social media influencer, the controversies surrounding his work and how he uses digital platforms to push for accountability.
Revisits ‘Online Police’ Identity
The description is one VeryDarkMan has used before.
In 2024, he appeared in videos wearing clothing resembling a police uniform while referring to himself as a member of an “online police” division, an action that led to allegations of impersonation and a police investigation.
He later apologised, explaining that he never intended to impersonate officers and that “CSP” in his videos meant “Chief Social Media Person.”
Earlier this week, VeryDarkMan announced that the case had been struck out by the court, after which he declared himself the “IG of Online Police.”
Continued Public Attention
His Arise TV appearance comes amid renewed public attention following recent interactions with the Nigeria Police Force over allegations he made against a senior police officer.
The interview has generated mixed reactions online, with supporters praising his commitment to demanding accountability, while critics argue that his style is often confrontational.
