Nollywood actor Charles Okocha has claimed victory over street-pop singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, after the singer was disqualified during their celebrity boxing rematch for failing to return to the ring for the second round.
The contest, tagged “Unfinished Business,” was held on Friday at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, as a rematch of their controversial first encounter, which Okocha had insisted was wrongly awarded to Portable.
Fight Ends in Confusion
Portable started the bout brightly and appeared to have the upper hand during the early exchanges before the contest descended into a wrestling-style struggle.
The referee repeatedly halted the action in an effort to separate both fighters, while security personnel and bodyguards eventually entered the ring to restore order after the opening round ended in confusion.
Before the second round could begin, Portable walked out of the ring, drawing boos from sections of the crowd, including spectators in the VIP area.
Although organisers later persuaded him to return, officials ruled that he had abandoned the contest and subsequently disqualified him, handing victory to Charles Okocha.
Portable’s Pre-Fight Remarks
Moments before the fight, Portable was seen backstage holding his son while speaking about his expectations.
“I am not happy, but I want God to make me happy and my family,” he said.
The result marks a dramatic reversal from their first meeting, which Portable won. Ahead of the rematch, the singer had confidently maintained that he remained the superior fighter.
