VeryDarkMan Challenges AIG Jimoh Over Alleged Custodial Death of ‘David’

Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has publicly challenged Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Olohundare Moshood Jimoh over the alleged death of a detainee identified as “David” while in police custody.

In a video shared online on Thursday, VDM repeatedly questioned the senior police officer over the incident, demanding an explanation.

‘What Happened to David?’

Addressing AIG Jimoh directly, the activist asked, “AIG, what happened to David that was tortured to death in your custody?”

During the video, VDM displayed what he claimed was a written statement describing alleged torture in police custody.

According to the document he referenced, a detainee alleged that another suspect, identified as David, was subjected to severe torture and later died from injuries sustained during interrogation.

The statement also claimed the witness eventually made a false confession out of fear of suffering a similar fate.

The latest allegations come amid VDM’s ongoing public confrontation with AIG Jimoh over police conduct in several high-profile investigations, including the Ajiran murder case.

The police chief had previously declined to engage directly with the activist, insisting that matters before the courts should be resolved through the judicial process.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Nigeria Police Force nor AIG Jimoh has issued an official response to the specific allegations concerning the alleged custodial death of David.

The claims have generated widespread reactions on social media, with many users calling for an independent investigation, while others urged caution pending official findings.
