Famous Nigerian Gospel singer, Sammie Okposo was reported dead in the early hours of Friday, November 25, 2022, and his demise is currently causing a stir in the online space.
Fellow Gospel singers close to the minister have taken to social media to confirm his demise and openly grieve the loss of the singer. Some are however yet to react to the news on social media.
Okposo’s life was one that blessed many people around the world as he traveled across continents for tours, ministrations, and even vacations. The “Wellu Wellu” crooner died at the age of 51.
Here are 5 top things to know about Sammie Okposo and his painful death.
1. He was not survived by any child from his marriage
Although Sammie Okposo has a daughter, Alula Okposo who is equally in the music industry, he did not have a child with his wife, Ozioma before he passed on. The couple got married in 2010 and remained together until his death. We pray God grants Ozioma and the entire family the fortitude to bear this loss.
2. He was just saved from a terrible incident
The Artist recently (November 10, 2022) took to his Instagram page to share the news of how God saved him even though “the enemy” meant the situation for evil. Okposo did not go into further detail about what the post was about but comments from fellow Gospel artists proved that he was involved in an incident that may or may not have been life-threatening. 3. Sammie Okposo was just about to release a project
Fellow Gospel artiste, Tosin Bee, in a now-deleted social media post reacting to Okposo’s death, revealed that they were working on a project together and were just about to release it when he died. It has not been specified whether or not the project will be released regardless but what we know for now is that the singer had an upcoming project which he was so excited about before he fell into the hands of death.
4. The singer had an event the day he died.
Okposo announced earlier last week that he would be in the city of Calabar, Cross-river State, Nigeria for a Gospel event scheduled for Friday 25th to Sunday 27th of November 2022. The artiste however died on Friday the 25th. There is no information as to whether he was already in Calabar at the time of his demise or not.
1. He Slumped.
A few hours before his death, Sammie Okposo put up a post on social media that attracted reactions from fans and fellow artistes alike. This is why his demise is most shocking. According to reports from close sources to the late artiste, he slumped and died in the early hours of Friday, November 25 2022.
