Boxing day

Have you ever wondered why boxing day comes exactly after Christmas day? Maybe it is true that all is fair in Love and War (kidding).

But, that is not why I am writing this article anyway. I guess we’d talk about that some other time.

It is boxing day but that doesn’t mean you should go around throwing punches. Boxing day was primarily originated as a holiday to give gifts to the poor. However, Boxing Day in the present day is known as a shopping holiday

So, what are the 10 things you can do on boxing day?

1. Go shopping

Yes, this is one of the things you can do today. Did you receive some cash gift yesterday from a friend or relative? Why not spend it on the boxing day sales. After all, boxing day is a shopping holiday. So, show some love to yourself.

2. Hit the Gym

Whether you are a lazy bum, just like me, who’s never been to the gym all year round or a regular, what better time to hit the gym if not boxing day? You should try it, it is always exciting.

3. Watch a Movie

I know boxing day is always full of festive episodes of all your favourite TV shows. You can relax at home and watch Christmas special shows, catch up with your favourite series or see a movie. If you don’t want to stay at home, you can hit the cinema. Here is a list of the most googled movies of 2021.

4. Clean Up

If you don’t know what to do you can deal with leftover chicken or turkey. You just need to change the taste or warm the food remaining yesterday and enjoy

5. Bet

I know there will be a lot of competitions today. There is always horse racing on boxing day; some of them are very respected race meet! So make some money.

6. Give to the Poor

Boxing day used to be primarily a day set aside to give to the poor. However, the practice has long faded away with the emergence of charity which is now being given in the weeks leading up to Christmas. You can still uphold this practice.

7. Visit Family/Friends

Boxing day is the best time to visit your relatives or friends; reflect on things that happen this year and laugh about the memories you share with them.

8. Rest

If you don’t want to do anything today, you can just sleep and rest your head. You deserve it.

9. Social media

Why not spend the day checking on friends online? Clean up your social media profiles, add a new profile picture, or remove all those friends who never sent you a Christmas message from your list. Just kidding but I think you get the idea.

10. Read a book

Lastly, you can read a book you’ve always wanted. You’ve not read a single book this year? That’s bad. You can procrastinate any other day but not today! Wrestle your lazy bum off the couch and read a book.

I hope that you enjoy this list of things you can do today on boxing day. Just pick one or two out of it and enjoy the boxing day.
