Why JAMB students may not gain admission this year

It feels like a shock as you see this topic, why JAMB students may not gain admission this year. Isn’t it? The reality is those millions that have seat for this year’s JAMB, is not all that will be admitted.

However, if you want to be among the lucky few, you have to follow the points embedded here dearly.

1. Failure to plan

You are familiar with the popular phrase, ‘He who fails to plan has planned to fail’. In that same way, if you don’t plan your admission properly, you are likely to lose it. To plan in this context is to keep in mind a particular choice, of course, institutions (University) and correct subject combinations for that course.

If I recall, a few years ago, I had a friend who had to forfeit his admission to the University of Benin because he had a wrong subject combination; moreover, it obviously would have been rejected by the university if he had taken it there.

By failing to plan many students resort to studying in a polytechnic and other kinds of the institution they don’t want since they apparently cannot study in their choice of university.

2. Examination malpractice

There is a consolidated opinion of examination malpractices amongst candidates over the years. The new Oloyede- led JAMB board has made it almost impossible to indulge in malpractice.

3. Attitude of JAMB Board

Out of the millions of candidates that got registered, thousands will still have to wait for next year’s admission as a result of NO Profile Code. To register for the 2021 UTME, candidates are required to create a profile code by sending their NIN – to 55019 first.

The majority were not able to register for NIN, not to talk of generating JAMB profile code. These students will have to wait until next year without admission.

4. Lack of fundings

Another reason why JAMB students may not gain admission this year is lack of fund; this is the reason why you need to plan before taking the step of writing JAMB in the first instance.

Students who don’t have enough money to pay acceptance fees or school fees for themselves are left with no other choice than to forfeit their admission.

For this reason, it is advisable that any student who wants to gain admission into the university should apply for an affordable course and university, so as to be able to pay for school fee and other miscellaneous

5. Laissez–faire attitude

To be frank, many students don’t really care about their admission.

Most times, it is a result of the frequent failure they have had in their admission process. However, some students unduly take the whole thing lightly. Because of this, many students have failed to gain admission to the University.
