According to Forbes updated list of the African Billionaires, Aliko Dangote is the richest person in Africa. He has maintained this position for 11 years straight and doesn’t seem to be leaving anytime soon. No one has been able to beat this record yet.

The richest person in Africa is no other person than Aliko Dangote. He currently has a net worth of $13.9 Billion, according to Forbes.
For over a decade, he has consecutively retained the top position among Forbes’ richest people in Africa, and in Nigeria. Dangote has the largest Cement company in Sub-Saharan Africa. However, he didn’t just stop at the manufacturing of cement, he has other products to his company’s name and has continually yielded greatly.

2. Johann Rupert
Networth: $11 Billion
Following Dangote closely is Johann Rupert, chairman of Compagnie Financiere Richemont (a Swiss luxury goods company) in South Arica.
He is currently the leader of Remgro and owns 7% of the company’s share. Also, he owns 25% of Reinet, a Luxembourg investment holding company.
As of 2022, Johann Rupert’s net worth is $11 Billion, making him the second richest person in Africa, per Forbes.
3. Nicky Oppenheimer
Networth: $8.7 Billion
Nicky Oppenheimer is the second richest person in South Africa and the third richest billionaire in Africa.
He is the heir to the DeBeers Diamond fortune; the third generation of his family to run the business. However, he took the company private in 2001 and sold his own share of 40% to the Anglo American Mining Group for $5.1 Billion in 2012.
In 2014, he founded his own company, Fireblade Aviation in Johannesburg, South Africa. Oppenheimer now has up to 720 square miles of conservation land across South Africa, Botswana, and Zimbabwe.
