What would Romelu Lukaku's arrival at Chelsea mean for Timo Werner?

There have been growing concerns about the future of Timo Werner in Chelsea when Romelu Lukaku arrived at The Bridge; however, in responding to the concerns, Werner said he would welcome Lukaku to the club.

He said he would welcome the arrival of Romelu Lukaku as Chelsea prepare to submit a record-breaking bid for the striker. The Blues have seen a bid in the region of £80million rejected by Inter Milan for the Belgian.

More so, Werner could have been forgiven for not looking forward to the arrival of a player who will surely limit his playing opportunities at Stamford Bridge.

The German was one of Chelsea’s blockbuster signings last summer, with RB Leipzig receiving nearly £50m.

But the 25-year-old failed to settle in England after his big-money move, scoring just six goals in the Premier League in his debut campaign.

The sacking of Frank Lampard did nothing to turn around his fortunes in front of goal, but his off-ball work was noticeable under Thomas Tuchel.

While many believed the duo will be good others think there will be flops. Werner will be assisting mostly and scoring some so, we should stop dreaming because it will be cool.

Recall, the man who scored in that victory was Kai Havertz, who was another new arrival from the Bundesliga last summer.

Werner struck up a partnership with his compatriot, though the duo may find their time on the pitch is limited by Lukaku’s arrival.

In speaking about his relationship with Havertz, Werner hinted he would welcome Lukaku to the Blues by claiming it “doesn’t matter who scores the goals” to him.
