Tom Butler was born in Ottawa, Ontario in Canada in the year 1951. He is best known for his role in the science fiction, Sliders series. He played Micheal Mallory, the father of  Quinn Mallory in the pilot episode and in the season 2 episode of Gillian of the Spirits. Tom Butler also appeared in Hostage Rescue Team (2001) as Special agent, David Nelson. He has further appeared in films including Renegades (1989), Ernest Rides Again (1993), First Target (2000), Freddy vs. Jason (2003), and Everything Gone Green (2006).

Tom Butler also appeared on Highlander: The Series, The Commish, The Outer Limits, Stargate SG-1, Smallville, Check It Out!, The Secret Circle, The Killing, and Gracepoint. Also, he appeared in the Fifty Shades series in 2015 and in Autumn in the Vineyard for the Hallmark Channel in 2016. Tom Butler is married and has two daughters with his wife.
