Tinubu Set to Return to Nigeria Tuesday For Sallah
Ahead of the Sallah celebration, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria on Tuesday, June 27, 2023. Tinubu, who is currently in France, is expected to be received by a large crowd of supporters at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
A source close to the Presidency confirmed Bola Tinubu’s return to Nigeria for Sallah to Channels Television on Sunday, saying the President would spend the holiday in Lagos, the nation’s commercial hub.
And according to the reports, an advance team has already been dispatched ahead of the President’s arrival.
Recall that President Bola Tinubu had landed in Paris, France’s capital for a two-day leadership summit. The leadership summit, which will also be attended by other world leaders, is starting on Thursday 22nd June to Friday, June 23rd.
The Global Financing Summit which is being hosted by France President, Emmanuel Macron will be taking place at Palais Brongniart in Paris. The leadership summit is President Tinubu’s first official trip abroad after his swearing-in as Nigeria’s 16th President on May 29th, 2023.
The Sallah celebration is an important religious holiday for Muslims, and it is expected that Tinubu will join his family and friends in celebrating the occasion.
He was initially scheduled to be back in Abuja Saturday, but proceeded to London, United Kingdom, for a short private visit.
The presidential media aide, Dele Alake, had announced in a statement on Saturday that Tinubu will be back in the country in time for the Eid-el-Kabir festival slated for Wednesday.
“Tinubu, who was initially scheduled to be back in Abuja on Saturday, will now proceed to London, United Kingdom, for a short private visit,” a statement signed by the Special Adviser on Special Duties, Communication and Strategy, read.
