Tinubu fires back at PDP, LP over alleged anti-people policies

The Tinubu-led Presidency has fired back at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) over their allegations that the President Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress (APC) government is implementing anti-people policies.

The PDP and LP’s criticisms, which came on a day President Tinubu clocked one month in the saddle, elicited an immediate response from the Presidency, which accused the PDP of being envious of Tinubu’s achievements in three weeks, saying the president did in three weeks what the PDP could not do in 16 years.

In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties, Communications and Strategy, Mr Dele Alake, the Presidency said the PDP and LP are simply envious of the ruling party’s achievements within three weeks of President Tinubu’s inauguration.

“The PDP and LP are simply envious of the APC’s achievements within three weeks of President Tinubu’s inauguration,” the statement said. “They are trying to distract the government from its focus on delivering on its promises to the Nigerian people.”

The statement also accused the PDP and LP of lacking the mental capacity and managerial acumen to run a government. “The PDP and LP are simply not fit to govern Nigeria,” the statement said. “They have a proven track record of failure.”

Similarly, the ruling APC urged Nigerians to continue to support President Tinubu because he is taking courageous and decisive steps to reposition Nigeria for rapid economic growth and wholesome greatness.

Eid al-Adha, otherwise known as Eid-el-Kabir or the Feast of Sacrifice, is a highly symbolic Islamic tradition and celebration that commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah’s command.

The Presidency went on to list some of the APC government’s achievements in the past three weeks, including the signing of the Petroleum Industry Act, the release of N30 billion for the payment of minimum wage arrears, and the commencement of the implementation of the National Social Investment Programme.

“The APC government is committed to delivering on its promises to the Nigerian people,” the statement said. “We will not be distracted by the PDP and LP’s attempts to sow discord.”

The PDP and LP have not yet responded to the Presidency’s statement.
