Early Life

Tim Hardaway Jr. is the son of Yolanda and former NBA All-Star Tim Hardaway. He was born on March 16, 1992, in Alameda, California, while his dad played for the Golden State Warriors.

In high school, he went to Miami Palmetto High School in Florida. He started with football but switched to basketball. His dad was like a second coach, but they had a rocky relationship. The University of Michigan reached out to him during his second year through mail. In his junior year, he visited Michigan and saw them beat No. 4 Duke, which was a big deal.

After his junior year, he trained with Ed Downs every summer. Before his senior year, he went to Beilein’s Elite Camp and got an offer from Michigan, even though he wasn’t highly ranked. In his senior season, he averaged 31.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 4.0 assists. He did well in the Florida state championships, scoring 42 points against Brandon Knight.

ESPN ranked him 93rd in his class, and Scout.com ranked him 36th for shooting guards. Rivals.com didn’t rank him high. He played AAU basketball for the South Florida Heat and Chicago’s Mac Irvin Fire, where he teamed up with Meyers Leonard and Jereme Richmond.

College Career

In the 2010–11 NCAA Division I men’s basketball season, a freshman, he won four Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Week awards. He earned three of these awards in the last four weeks while scoring over 20 points per game. His performance helped his team secure fourth place in the Big Ten Conference standings for that season.

Additionally, he received an honorable mention for All-Big Ten and earned unanimous selection to the Big Ten All-Freshman team. He established a record for the most three-point shots made in a single season by a Michigan freshman. Professional Career

From 2013 to 2015, Tim Hardaway Jr. played for the  New York Knicks. He was drafted by them as the 24th pick. This was special because he and Trey Burke were the first Michigan duo picked in the first round since 1994. Tim signed a 4-year, $6.1 million contract with the Knicks in July 2013. Unfortunately, he got a wrist injury during the 2013 NBA Summer League, but it didn’t affect him for long.

In the 2013-14 season, Tim made his regular season debut and showed promise. He had some good games, even matching his dad’s career by becoming a first-round selection. Tim’s performance led to him being named a participant in the Rising Stars Challenge during the 2014 NBA All-Star Game weekend. He also earned a spot on the NBA All-Rookie Team.
