Those afraid of EFCC are guilty as suspected, suspended EFCC boss - Bawa

In a recent interview, the former EFCC boss stated that those afraid of the institution are guilty as suspected. According to Abdulrasheed Bawa, the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), he believes that only individuals who are guilty would feel apprehensive about visiting the anti-graft agency. In an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Bawa emphasized that people should not be afraid of him or the EFCC when invited for questioning, as the power lies within the system.

It is worth noting that earlier on Thursday, the president suspended the former chairman of the EFCC he was summoned to the presidential villa by President Tinubu, after the meeting his suspension was announced and it took effect immediately, while the president also ask that an investigation be conducted into Bawa for all the misappropriations and related offense with his name tag on them.

In his word, “Our intention is simply to carry out our duties, and we don’t want individuals to panic or be fearful. Everyone should feel welcome and at ease when coming to the EFCC. Our purpose is to uncover the truth and understand what transpired. So, why should one be scared or afraid? In my view, it signifies that you are guilty, as suspected, rather than being innocent, as charged.”
