WhatsApp to soon allow sending of VIDEO messages feature

Before WhatsApp allow the sending of voice notes in place of getting to type, at first it sounds and looks weird but now most people actually prefer sending voice notes compare to typing a long message while you can actually say what you want to say by placing your hand on the mic icon. Although, it provides a convenience by allowing users to get more done easy but even at that many people have abused that feature sending a long voice note that can take minutes before you are done listening to it.

Well, as strange as it will be when the feature is eventually made available to the majority, it may in some ways substitute for the traditional video call, I mean when you can send a video chat, why do a video call or send a picture when you can actually do a video message. Also, another challenge lies in group chats that are usually flooded with voice notes and the likes, having a video message feature will empower people to abuse it which may actually make it tiring to belong to a WhatsApp group.

According to WABetaInfo, the new feature will let users send their friend’s brief videos that can be up to one minute long. Unlike pre-recorded videos that can be saved for later, video messages are recorded and sent in real time, giving a sense of instant communication and immediacy.

A recent discovery by WABetaInfo reveals an interesting new feature in the beta version of WhatsApp for iOS (version 23.12.0.71) and Android (version 2.23.13.4). This feature appears to be an additional tool integrated with voice notes.

Currently, to send a voice note on WhatsApp, users need to hold down the microphone icon located at the bottom right of the chat interface. However, in the beta version, tapping on this icon transforms it into a video camera icon, enabling users to record video messages.

According to a screenshot shared by WABetaInfo, when you send or receive a video message, you will need to tap on the video once to enlarge it if you want to listen to the audio. This mechanism aims to enhance the overall user experience.

While WhatsApp already allows users to send pre-recorded videos to their contacts, this new tool provides a greater sense of immediacy. When recipients receive a video message, they can perceive that it has been recently recorded, giving it a heightened level of authenticity.

In summary, the beta version of WhatsApp introduces a video message feature that complements the existing voice note functionality. This feature offers users the ability to send and receive video messages with a more immediate and authentic feel. Additionally, it remains unclear when, or even if, the new feature will be rolled out to all users.
