Early Life
Mark William Calaway was born in Houston, Texas on March 24, 1965, Calaway is the son of Betty Cathrine Truby and Frank Compton Calaway. He played basketball and football while he was a student at Waltrip High School.
Calaway began his studies at Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, Texas, in 1985. Calaway left school in 1986 to concentrate on a career in athletics, and before opting to concentrate on professional wrestling, he briefly explored playing professional basketball in Europe.
The Undertaker is the youngest of five sons. At Waltrip High School, he participated in both the football and basketball teams. About 115 miles northeast of Houston in Lufkin, Texas, he attended Angelina College.
In 1983, he received a basketball scholarship to attend college. In 1985, he changed universities in order to play basketball and pursue a sports management major at Texas Wesleyan University. He left college in 1986, briefly explored playing professional basketball in Europe, but ultimately chose to devote himself to wrestling.

Career
For World Class Championship Wrestling, The Undertaker made his professional wrestling debut in 1984. In 1989, he began competing in World Championship Wrestling, using the ring name Mean Mark Callous.
He changed his identity to Kane the Undertaker after joining the WWF, and on November 22, 1990, at Survivor Series, he made his formal on-camera debut as a villain as Ted DiBiase’s Million Dollar team’s mystery partner.
A tag team bout for the WWF Tag Team Championship was the main event planned for the 1998 Fully Loaded event. Kane and Mankind were defeated by The Undertaker and Stone Cold Steve Austin, the current WWF Champion, to win the WWF Tag Team Championship.
