The Place restaurant has found itself in the middle of the Twitter saga after some users made a series of food poisoning allegations against the organization.

The whole controversy began after a user identified as @gyosmenn noted that another User identified as Chinwe had died from food poisoning after eating at the restaurant.

Gyosmenns quoted a now-deleted tweet of Chinwe with RIP, in the Tweet the said Chinwe posted a picture of a delicacy from the place restaurant alongside a picture of herself in the hospital on the 24th of March 2022.

Captioning the tweet Chinwe wrote: “how it started Vs how it ended”, noting that she had landed in the hospital after eating from The place.

After the allegation, another user identified as Charis Akpabio noted that there is a need to investigate The Place restaurant at Ikeja, stating that she had seen people complaining about food posing from there.

Another user identified as Temmy TK stated that she saw a maggot in the food she got from the restaurant, She noted that she messaged and mail the organization on different platforms but never got a reply.

Another user identified as Ofure begged everyone on her timeline to stop buying food from the restaurant, noting that they are common cases of food poisoning from consumers eating from the company.

She wrote: Pls stop buying food from “The place” restaurant. This isn’t just one unfortunate incident. Everybody eats their food and complains of food poisoning after. May her soul Rest In Peace.”

After this series of allegations several internet users and influencers, began to cancel the restaurant due to the alleged negligence.

A verified handle identified as Official Suo wrote: “Many Lagos eateries na mortuary assistant- lazy chef+dirty environment=recipe for disaster. Pesin go take hard earned money go “tush” restaurant only to be served repackaged, overpriced left overs? Chinwe didn’t need to die needlessly from food poisoning. The Place Ikeja no try.”

Another user identified as Chydee Okereke wrote: Man. Just seen that someone died from food poisoning. It’s really those type of deaths that hurt me the most, because it’s almost so random. And unless you cook everything you eat, you can’t know for sure you’re safe.

Taiwo Seyi wrote: “Diagnosed of food poisoning after eating Asun is scary. Pronounced dead later is devastating. Eating outside can be suicidal sometimes no matter how reputable the place is. Somebody might just be careless with his/her work in the place. May God protect us all.”

Another user identified as Harold noted the restaurant was already damaging their business before this recent event.

The place twitter saga took a different turn after the original allegations by Gyosmnenns and the deceased were deleted. Several users began to suspect that the duo were just chasing clout to gather followers on the platform.

A user identified as Veeque_jay wrote: I doubt the authenticity of the tweet accusing The Place of being the cause of the lady’s death. Linking the food poisoning to lung infection? Naturally, people tend to spin unconfirmed theory to fault what they think was the cause of a problem. Just hope it ain’t clout.

Another user identified as BJ stardom wrote: I wish to see social media clout chasers being sued for millions without the option of out-of-the-court settlement & without mercy, cos how can a sane human decide to bring someone’s brand down just to chase clout & later delete the tweet. The Place needs to make them a scapegoat
