Early Life

Seth Curry was born on August 23, 1990, in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. His dad is Dell Curry, a former NBA player, and his mom is Sonya Curry, a former volleyball player at Virginia Tech. Seth grew up in Charlotte, where his dad played for the Charlotte Hornets.

When he was a kid, Seth’s dad often took him and his older brother, Stephen, to his games. They’d play basketball with the team before the games started. Seth graduated from Charlotte Christian School in 2008. He played on the Knights’ basketball team for three years, starting in his sophomore year.

In his senior year, Seth had some impressive stats, averaging 22.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists. He made 52 percent of his shots. After the season, he received honors like all-conference, all-state, and first-team SAA All-American. During his three years on the varsity team, Charlotte Christian had a great record of 105 wins and 24 losses. They even made it to the state finals in 2006.

Seth also did well academically, making the Charlotte Christian honor roll for all four years.

Career

After finishing high school, Curry decided to go to Liberty University. During his first year at Liberty, he scored an average of 20.2 points per game, the highest among all freshmen in the country. He also set a new record for freshmen in the Big South Conference for scoring in a single season. He wore the number 30 on his jersey, which his father and older brother had also worn in their careers.

Curry transferred from Liberty University to Duke after the 2008-09 season. He had to sit out the 2009-10 basketball season due to transfer rules. At Duke, he continued to wear the number 30.

In his professional career, Curry went undrafted in the 2013 NBA draft. He signed a non-guaranteed contract with the Golden State Warriors on August 23, 2013, but the team later released him on October 25, 2013. He subsequently joined the  Santa Cruz Warriors of the NBA Development League on November 1, 2013, where he made an impressive debut with 36 points, 6 assists, and 3 rebounds.

In December 2013, Curry briefly played for the Memphis Grizzlies but was waived by the team on January 5, 2014. He then returned to the Santa Cruz Warriors, where he earned a spot on the Futures All-Star roster for the 2014 NBA D-League All-Star Game on February 3, 2014.

In July 2015, Curry joined the New Orleans Pelicans for the 2015 NBA Summer League, where he earned All-NBA Summer League first-team honors.
