Biography
Serge Ibaka was born in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo, on September 18, 1989. He’s the third youngest among 18 children. His dad played basketball for the Republic of the Congo and their national team, while his mom played for the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Ibaka started playing basketball early, joining his first club, Avenir du Rail. He used the sport to cope with his mother’s early death and his father’s imprisonment during the Second Congo War. His family fled the country before the war, but when they returned, his father became a political prisoner.
Career
