Sam Altman is an American entrepreneur, investor, and computer scientist. He’s pretty well-known for being the former president of Y Combinator, which is this cool startup accelerator in Silicon Valley. He joined Y Combinator in 2011 and became president in 2014, taking over from Paul Graham.

Besides working with Y Combinator, Altman is an angel investor and has put money into lots of tech companies. He’s also started a few of his own ventures, like Loopt, this app that connects people based on their locations. It was eventually bought by Green Dot Corporation in 2012.
