The media has often portrayed the LGBTQ community as a group of people with tons of money and fewer economic struggles than the rest of the population. Although that is slightly different from reality they are still a few individuals in the LGBTQ community who are part of the richest people in the world. So in celebration of Pride Month, we have made a compilation of the top 10 richest gay men in the world in 2022.

Geffen is an entertainment mogul and presently the richest gay person in the world. He co-founded Asylum Records with Elliot Roberts, in 1970 and was responsible for the management of many famous bands and singers.

Following Geffen is Italian Fashion designer, Giorgio Armani with an estimated net worth of $7.2 Billion. The Fashion mogul is the founder of the Armani Company. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana,  founders of the luxury fashion house Dolce & Gabbana (D&G) are also on the list, both with an estimated net worth of $1.4 Billion.

Also on the list is Stein Erik Hagen, a Norwegian businessman and bi-sexual person with an estimated net worth of $2.4 Billion. The Chief Executive Officer of Apple, Tim Cook, and  American enterpriser, Jennifer Pritzker, are part of the richest gay people in the world, both with an estimated net worth of $2 Billion. The founder and CEO of GT’s Living Foods, George Thomas Dave concludes the list, with an estimated net worth of $1 Billion.

American producer and Film Executive, David Geffen is the richest gay person in the world, with an estimated net worth of $10 Billion according to Forbes. The entertainment mogul is also on the list of billionaires who dropped out of college to build a fortune for themselves.

David Geffen got into the entertainment business in 1961. He co-founded Asylum Records with Elliot Roberts, in 1970 and was responsible for the management of many famous bands and singers.

He also founded Geffen Records in 1980, DGC Records in 1990, and DreamWorks pictures alongside Steven Speilberg and Jeffrey Katzenberg in 1994. The studio has produced or distributed more than 10 films that have grossed more than $100 million each.

Geffen came out as gay in 1992, and in 2007 topped Out magazine’s list of the fifty “Most Powerful Gay Men and Women in America”.

He served as the Chief executive Officer of the Company until it was acquired by eBay in 2002 for  $1.5 billion.

After PayPal, Thiel founded Clarium Capital, a global macro hedge fund based in San Francisco. In 2003, he launched Palantir Technologies, a big data analysis company, serving as its chairman since its inception. In 2005, he launched Founders Fund with PayPal partners Ken Howery and Luke Nosek.

Thiel is also a venture capitalist, and political activist, he was the first outside investor in Facebook and made early-stage investments in numerous startups such as Airbnb, Spotify,  SpaceX, Quora, Stripe, AltSchool, and many others.

In 2007, Gawker published a feature that claimed Thiel was homosexual. While he denounced the article, he subsequently came out as gay and currently lives in Los Angeles with his husband, Matt Danzeisen.

Stryker was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He is the youngest grandchild of Homer Hartman Stryker, founder of the medical supply company Stryker Corporation. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from Kalamazoo College in 1982 and a Master of Architecture degree from the University of California, Berkeley.

The 63-year-old is a registered architect in Michigan and is president of Depot Landmark LLC, a development company specializing in the rehabilitation of historic buildings. He is also a founding board member of Greenleaf Trust, a privately owned bank in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Stryker, who is openly gay, remains one of the world’s top philanthropic donors to LGBT causes. He is chairman of Orkla, where he is a major shareholder, and holds large stakes in Steen & Strøm, Jernia and Komplett through his family company Canica. He founded the RIMI discount store chain along with his father in the 1970s and retained ownership until 2004.

Hagen reportedly owns one of the biggest sailboats in Europe and used to own his own island in the Caribbean.

Regarding his sexuality, Hagen came out as bisexual on the Norwegian-Swedish talk show Skavlan in 2015. He said on the show that his ex-wives and family have known about his sexuality for many years.

Jennifer is also the CEO and President of Tawani Enterprises, a wealth management company that’s heavily involved in historic preservation, sustainability, and other philanthropic efforts.

Prior to her business career, The 71-year-old served in the US Army from 1974 – to 2001, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. She was later bestowed a promotion to full Colonel by the Illinois Army National Guard.

Jennifer was a republican and a supporter of the Donald administration until his 2017 tweet where he revealed his intentions to ban transgender from the military.

Cook was born in Alabama in the United States, He earned a Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering from Auburn University in 1982 and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Duke University in 1988. He spent 12 years in IBM’s personal computer business, ultimately serving as the director of North American fulfillment.

He also served as the chief operating officer of the computer reseller division of Intelligent Electronics. In 1997, he became the vice president for corporate materials at Compaq for six months but left the position after being hired by Steve Jobs. Cook joined Apple in March 1998 as a senior vice president for worldwide operations, and then served as the executive vice president for worldwide sales and operations. Dolce was born in Sicily, in 1958. His father was a tailor and his mother sold fabrics and apparel. He moved to Milan to attend the fashion design school Istituto Marangoni, but he dropped out before graduating, confident he knew enough to work in the industry.

He met Stefano Gabbana in 1980. The pair became romantic partners in 1982 and subsequently launched Dolce & Gabbana in 1985. Gabbana was born in Milan to a father who worked in a printing factory and a mother who worked for a laundry service.  He graduated from the Istituto Superiore per le Industrie Artistiche, a design institute in Rome before eating Domenico in 1980.

The Dolce & Gabbana brand made its fashion show debut at Milano Collezioni’s Nuovi Talenti (New Talents) in October 1985. In March 1986, D&G released its first collection and held its own show, “Real Women.” In 1987, the first D&G store opened in Milan, at 7 Via Santa Cecilia.
