CITATIONS DE CHRIS HODGES

“We usually expect too much of people. Often, we judge them by their actions, while judging ourselves by our intentions.

‘The problem with luggage is that it affects other people’s travels.’

‘Temptation is a test of your relationship, not of your self-control.’

“Paul was focusing on what was going on inside him, not on him. Likewise, we can be sure that when something happens to us, God does something in us – something that will shape us for eternity.

‘You can’t make a difference unless you’re different.’

“Sometimes it seems safer to have just enough of God to go to heaven, but not so much that it drastically changes our lives.

“There seems to be something in our human nature that pulls us away from a nurturing relationship with Jesus because it’s more comfortable to focus on the do’s and don’ts. This tendency robs us of true joy and peace. »

“Do not worry about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).

“Here’s the real secret: You can fulfill the commandments of the Bible better by falling in love with God than by trying to obey Him. It’s not that your obedience isn’t meaningful or relevant; it’s just not the center of the wheel. No, the heart of your life is your relationship with God. Your behavior and your obedience radiate like rays from the center of your life and keep you going. When you try to make your eternal behavior the hub you spin on, you get stuck. The forward movement must be fueled by love.

“Worship is love expressed.”

“If religions have one thing in common, it’s that they ask us to do something to get to God. All except Christianity. So many people, including many Christians, believe that God requires us to make changes before we can approach Him. But this is not true. We don’t put our lives together to get to God. We go to God to collect our lives! So what are we supposed to do? The answer is in the first cup of God’s promise. He said, ‘I’ll take you out.’

“When people face the past – their sins, hurts, and curses – they experience amazing joy, freedom, and spiritual growth. They pass from the mere assurance of their salvation to an experience of divine deliverance.

“God wants his power in the life of every person. He loves taking ordinary people and using them to do extraordinary things. However, it didn’t take long for Christians to make ministry a profession and hire a few people to lead their churches. They called these clergy people and soon the rest of the body of Christ was sitting passively aside and watching. They could be part of a “church” without real sacrifice or personal commitment to the welfare of the community. »

“I praise your name for your unfailing love and faithfulness; for your promises are backed by all the honor of your name. PSALM 138: 2′

“One of the most startling discoveries I have made while studying the Bible is that God does not tolerate religion. This is a constant theme in Scripture. Religion is man’s outward effort to please God. But God doesn’t care about all my efforts to get it right. He wants more, something much bigger.

“Because of our selfishness and our inclination towards personal comfort and convenience, we would rather not have to deal with constant change and uncertainty. We struggle to reconcile the goodness of God with the mystery of his ways.
