Tinubu’s statement is coming amidst the controversy around the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the ruling party. The APC presidential candidate had chosen the former Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima as his running mate, against the call by some Christians in the party to pick a Christian as the vice presidential candidate of the party.

The decision of the ruling party to pick a Muslim as its vice presidential candidate has seen some people accuse the party of an agenda to Islamise Nigeria. While the likes of Lawan Babachir and Yakubu Dogara have threatened to boycott the campaign of the APC in 2023.

During the parely, the former Lagos governor took a swipe at one of his opponents in the presidential race.

“Between all of us running, we are three now left. One just failed the most important part of the examination. Are you a unifier or a divider? He said I’m from the North”, he said.

The event was attended by Kano governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, APC chieftains, and other dignitaries.
