  • “I Avoided Love to Stay Focused” — Zubby Michael Opens Up on Career Sacrifice

Nollywood actor Zubby Michael has opened up about a personal decision that shaped his early journey in the film industry, revealing why he deliberately avoided romantic relationships.

The actor said the choice was driven by a need to stay focused during his struggling years in Asaba.

    Why he kept his distance

Speaking candidly, Zubby explained that he feared emotional distractions could derail his progress at a critical stage of his career.

He noted that relationships often come with pressures that can affect mental focus, especially for someone trying to build a name in a competitive industry.

“I’ve been scared of women… it can destroy this thing,” he said, referring to his career path.

Focus over feelings in early years

According to him, his priority at the time was to establish himself and create stability before introducing any form of emotional commitment.

He recalled how fully immersing himself in his work helped him grow without distractions that might have slowed him down.

“Maybe if I had a girlfriend then, I might not be here,” he added.

    “There’s time for everything”

Zubby stressed that his decision was not rooted in any negative view about women, describing them as “beautiful,” but rather about timing and discipline.

He said he believed relationships should come at the right phase of life, when one is more stable and ready to handle the responsibilities that come with them.

    Now open to love

With a more established career and personal achievements, including owning a home, the actor said he is now in a better place to explore relationships.

“Now I can say okay, let’s see how it goes… there’s time for everything,” he said.

The revelation has sparked conversations online about career sacrifice, timing, and the balance between personal life and professional growth.

  • “How Much Are You Paying?” — Phyna Questions Moniepoint as Hiring Debate Heats Up

Reality TV star Phyna has weighed in on the growing controversy surrounding Moniepoint’s hiring challenges, questioning whether salary levels match expectations for “global talent.”

Her reaction comes after comments attributed to the company’s CEO, Tosin Eniolorunda, about difficulties filling over 500 roles in Nigeria.

    Phyna questions pay vs reality

In a viral response, Phyna challenged the narrative that Nigerians lack skills, shifting attention instead to compensation and living conditions.

“How much is the salary?” she asked, arguing that some content creators reportedly earn more daily than certain monthly corporate wages.

She also pointed to rising living costs, including rent and basic expenses, insisting that job vacancies cannot be viewed in isolation from economic realities.

“You cannot just say Nigerians are not smart because jobs are not being filled,” she said.

“I studied engineering” — reality star speaks

Phyna added that her own career path reflects broader systemic issues, revealing she holds an engineering degree but chose a different route.

“I have my certificate… If Nigeria gets better, I will dust it and move into the corporate world,” she said.

Her remarks struck a chord with many young Nigerians navigating similar choices between traditional careers and alternative income streams.

    Debate over talent gap intensifies

The comments come amid a wider conversation in Nigeria’s tech space about employability, skill gaps, and corporate expectations.

While some industry voices maintain that there is a shortage of globally competitive talent, others argue that salary structures and work conditions play a major role in attracting qualified professionals.

    Mixed reactions across social media

Online reactions have remained divided, with some supporting Phyna’s position on wage realities, while others insist that skill development remains a key challenge.

The controversy continues to fuel discussions around the future of work in Nigeria, especially as companies expand and compete in the global market.

  • Davido’s Surprise Moment Sparks Buzz as He’s Caught Vibing to Wizkid’s Song

Davido has stirred reactions online after a viral clip showed him singing a song by Wizkid and Asake during a recent visit to Osun State.

The Afrobeats star was spotted arriving in a convoy alongside his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, ahead of the state’s 2026 governorship election.

    Caught off-guard, but fully vibing

In the now-trending video, the singer appeared relaxed and unaware of being filmed as he sang along to “Jogodo,” one of the standout tracks from Wizkid and Asake’s joint EP.

He could be heard delivering the line, “Celebrity life e no easy,” while riding in the convoy.

The moment quickly caught attention online, especially given the long-standing rivalry often associated with fanbases of both artistes.

    Song behind the viral moment

“Jogodo” is part of the four-track project titled “REAL, Vol. 1,” released by Wizkid and Asake in January 2026.

Other songs on the EP include “Turbulence,” “Iskolodo,” and “Alaye,” all of which have gained traction among fans.

    Mixed reactions trail viral clip

The video triggered a wave of reactions across social media, with many users praising Davido’s personality and openness.

Some described him as “real” and easygoing, while others pointed to the irony of him publicly enjoying a song from a perceived industry rival.

Despite the divided opinions, the moment has added to ongoing conversations about relationships among Nigeria’s top artistes.

    Beyond rivalry, music still connects

The clip has also reignited discussions around the long-running Wizkid-Davido fan rivalry, often amplified online.

However, the moment reflects a different narrative, one where artistes themselves appear less invested in tension than their supporters.

For many observers, the viral scene reinforces Davido’s reputation as a relatable figure who openly appreciates good music, regardless of where it comes from.

  • Moniepoint Salary Document Leaks, Sparks Debate After CEO’s ‘Global Talent’ Claim

An alleged salary document linked to Moniepoint has surfaced online, igniting fresh debate over pay standards in Nigeria’s tech sector.

The document, which began circulating on social media, comes days after the company’s CEO raised concerns about the availability of global-standard talent in the country.

    Leaked pay details raise questions

The document was shared by an X user, @unkleAyo, who claimed it reflects a Quality Assurance role package at the fintech company.

According to the post, the annual salary is put at about ₦1.9 million, a figure that quickly drew attention.

“This is currently circulated as what Moniepoint offers for a Quality Assurance role. ₦1.9M per year,” the user wrote.

The claim further compared the figure to global earnings, suggesting it translates to roughly $1,300 annually.

    Work terms outlined in document

Details in the alleged offer also included standard working hours from 8am to 5pm, with the possibility of extended hours depending on operational needs.

It noted that extra hours may not attract additional compensation unless approved by the company.

The document further stated that employees are expected to remain fully committed to assigned duties, attend meetings, and comply with internal policies.

    Bonus structure included

Beyond the base pay, the package reportedly features a performance-based bonus ranging from 0 to 50 percent of the annual salary.

The base compensation itself was listed at approximately ₦1,894,736 per year, subject to deductions.

    Online reactions intensify debate

The development has triggered mixed reactions online, with many questioning whether such compensation aligns with ambitions to build globally competitive teams.

Others argued that salary structures must reflect market realities, while some urged caution, noting that the document has not been officially confirmed by the company.

The conversation adds to a growing debate around talent, compensation, and competitiveness within Nigeria’s evolving tech ecosystem.

  • Bandits Strike Katsina Communities, Kill Over 20 as Troops Neutralise 45 in Fierce Gun Battle

At least 24 people have been killed in fresh bandit attacks on communities in Katsina State, with security forces also recording a major breakthrough after neutralising dozens of suspected terrorists.

The incidents, which hit Musawa and Kankia local government areas, have deepened fears over rising insecurity in the region.

    Market attack leaves traders dead

The first attack occurred on Monday evening at Jikamshi market in Musawa LGA, where gunmen reportedly stormed the area as traders were closing for the day.

Witnesses said about 15 armed men on motorcycles opened fire, killing at least seven people and looting goods worth millions of naira.

Local sources confirmed that the victims were buried according to Islamic rites, describing the incident as devastating.

“The scale of the attack is enormous. The situation is beyond the state government alone,” a community leader said.

    Families recount painful losses

Among the victims was Tukur Aliyu, who had just returned from Lagos after attending his daughter’s wedding.

Family members said he left behind three wives, about 20 children, and several dependents.

“Our lives are in danger now. He was our breadwinner… we don’t know how we will survive,” one of his wives said.

Another victim, Rabi’u Ashiru, a phone trader, was killed in his shop just months before his planned wedding.

His father described the loss as devastating, saying, “We have lost a pillar of the family.”

Conflicting death toll after village attack

In a separate incident, residents of Gwalgoro village in Kankia LGA reported that 17 people were killed in an attack over the weekend.

However, the Katsina State government put the figure at 11, describing the killings as a reprisal after security forces foiled an earlier assault.

A resident insisted the casualty figure was higher, saying, “Death is not something you exaggerate. We buried 17 people.”

    Security forces engage bandits

According to officials, the violence began after intelligence reports revealed that a bandit leader identified as Mohammadu was advancing towards key locations in the area.

Security operatives, led by the Divisional Police Officer, engaged the attackers, neutralising several of them and recovering motorcycles and rustled cattle.

Authorities said the bandits later regrouped and launched a retaliatory attack on Gwalgoro village.

Troops record major success in Danmusa

Amid the attacks, troops reportedly neutralised 45 terrorists during a separate gun battle in Danmusa Local Government Area.

The operation is being seen as a significant counter-effort, though residents say more needs to be done to prevent recurring attacks.

    Growing concern over insecurity

Residents and community leaders have called for urgent intervention, warning that continued violence could trigger a humanitarian crisis.

Many women and children have already fled affected areas, seeking safety in nearby towns.

  • “Are You Paying Global Salary?” UK-Based Nigerian Fires Back at Moniepoint CEO Over Talent Criticism

A UK-based Nigerian has responded sharply to Moniepoint CEO Tosin Eniolorunda’s recent comments about difficulties in finding Nigerian professionals who meet global standards.

The response came in a video circulating online, where he questioned whether local salary structures match the global talent expectations being demanded.

“I understand your goal, but salary matters”

The man said he understood the fintech boss’s ambition of building a globally competitive company but argued that compensation remains central to attracting top talent.

“I saw the video where you said it’s hard to recruit Nigerians because they don’t meet global standards. That’s fine, I understand where you’re coming from,” he said.

He, however, questioned whether the remuneration being offered aligns with global benchmarks.

    Comparison with UK earnings

Drawing a comparison with the United Kingdom, where he currently resides, he broke down hourly wages to make his point.

“In the UK they pay about £13 an hour, roughly N20,000 per hour. That’s about N160,000 per day for a 9–5 job, which is about N3.2 million monthly,” he explained.

He added that even a slightly lower range in Nigeria would still be a strong incentive for skilled workers abroad.

“If you’re paying N2 million to N2.5 million, people will consider relocating,” he said.

    Push for stronger compensation structure

The UK-based Nigerian argued that better pay could help reverse talent migration and attract Nigerians in the diaspora.

He suggested that competitive packages would encourage skilled professionals to return or collaborate remotely.

“So sir, just let us know. Because you want global talent, are you paying global salary?” he asked.

Debate around talent and wages continues

His remarks come amid ongoing discussions triggered by Moniepoint’s CEO, who recently highlighted a gap in talent quality within Nigeria’s job market.

While some support concerns over skills and standards, others insist that salary levels and work conditions remain a major barrier to attracting top-tier professionals.

  • Dino Melaye Mocks Peter Obi’s Political Moves, Says He “Avoids Hot Kitchen” in Leadership Test

Former senator Dino Melaye has criticised Peter Obi over his recent political move, questioning his ability to handle pressure within Nigeria’s political space.

Melaye made the remarks while reacting to Obi’s shift to the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).

    Melaye questions Obi’s resilience

Speaking in a strongly worded statement, Melaye accused the former presidential candidate of avoiding difficult political situations.

He argued that leadership in Nigeria requires the capacity to withstand internal crises and intense pressure.

“Peter Obi excused himself from tough situation. If he can not face party tribulations and crisis, how does he intend to handle Nigeria?” he said.

He added, “He can only operate in an air-conditioned kitchen. Hot kitchens are not for him.”

    Claims over political trajectory

The former lawmaker also alleged that Obi has largely avoided competitive primary elections throughout his political career.

According to him, Obi benefitted from direct tickets at different stages, including his governorship, vice-presidential, and presidential bids.

“He has never gone through primary… APGA gave him free governorship ticket, Atiku gave him free VP ticket, Labour gave free presidential ticket,” Melaye stated.

He further claimed that Obi’s exits from previous parties were linked to his reluctance to participate in primaries.

    Controversy over NDC alignment

Melaye went on to question the independence of the NDC, alleging that the party is aligned with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“NDC is an agency of APC,” he claimed.

The comments add to growing reactions trailing recent political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections, as key figures continue to shift alliances across parties.
