Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi Enitan ascended the throne as the 51st and current Ooni of Ife. He is the traditional ruler/monarch of the Yoruba Kingdom of Ile-Ife, Oshun State, Nigeria.

Ooni of Ife while making a speech on his 48th birthday and seventh coronation anniversary explained why he choose to marry multiple wives.

According to him, the Institution is bigger than him because he tried to keep a wife and have concubines but failed.

Just like other kings before him, he has gotten so many wives in a short while. This is so after his previous marriage failed. Recall that the Ooni of Ife married prophetess, Seyi Naomi.

In 2021, the prophetess announced on Instagram her decision to divorce the Ooni of Ife.

In Ooni of Ife’s speech concerning his marriage according to NaijaNews.com, he said:

“This institution is bigger than me, beyond me. People in this palace are more than 800, they are close to a thousand. There are some people who have been living in this palace for more than 60 years, while some have lived here for more than 80 years old. Some people are over 100 years old in this palace.

“If I had my way, I tried to challenge it but it blew in my face thank God I’m still alive. It’s an institution that is rich in heritage, culture, and tradition.”

However, within a short period of time, the Ooni of Ife did not just marry a wife but married multiple wives.

This action of Seyi Naomi led the King to marry an Ebira-born queen, Mariam Anako in September 2022. The same month, the monarch wedded Dr. Elizabeth Akinmuda.

In October, he married Queen Tobi Phillips, Queen Ashley, and Queen Ronke Ademiluyi.

Today, October, 24th 2022 it is reported that the monarch will be welcoming his sixth wife, Princess Temitope Adesegun.

Apart from being a ruler, Ooni of Ife has other things he does which include:

• An associate Accounting Technician
• Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria,
• Global Real Estate Institute
• A certified member of the Institute of Directors.
• He is one of the richest kings in Nigeria and also in Africa.

Moreover, Ooni of Ife received his staff of office in 2015, and today he is considered an astute entrepreneur who is driven by the need to turn impossibilities into possibilities.
