Biography

Natasha Henstridge was born on the 15th of August, 1974 in Springdale, Newfoundland and Labrador. Her mother, Helen Henstridge was a homemaker while her father, Brian Henstridge was a construction manager and business owner. Natasha Henstridge grew up in Fort McMurray, Alberta alongside her younger brother, Shane.

Modelling Career

When Natasha Henstridge was 14, she enrolled in the Casablanca Modeling Agency’s Look of the Year contest and became the first runner-up. She then travelled to Paris the following year to pursue her modelling dreams. At the age of 15, she was featured on her first magazine cover, the French edition of Cosmopolitan. Afterwards, she was featured on several other magazine covers and also went on to do TV commercials for Olay, Old Spice, and Lady Stetson. When her modelling career became solid enough, Natasha Henstridge started doing commercials and confirmed she preferred acting. In the Missoula Children’s Theatre production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, performed in Fort McMurray, Alberta, she played the part of Foxy Fox in one of her first roles.

Early Acting Career

Natasha Henstridge made her film debut as Sil in Species (1995). The film was an immediate hit, grossing $113 million at the box office. Her role in the movie earned her the MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss for a scene where she kissed her date and during the process penetrates his head with her tongue.

In 1998, she played Eve, a genetic duplicate of Sil in Species II which was, unfortunately, a failure at the box office. While still filming Species, she starred in two action films, Adrenalin: Fear the Rush and Maximum Risk. Afterwards, she filmed a few smaller independent movies with varying box office returns. She starred in The Whole Nine Yards (2000) and its sequel The Whole Ten Yards (2004). Then, she signed up for John Carpenter’s Ghosts of Mars (2001) in the lead role, Lieutenant Melanie Ballard. However, the film did not garner favourable reviews, getting a 20% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.  She also briefly appeared as Eve in Species III. In 2007, Natasha Henstridge served as one of the festival judges at the first annual Noor Iranian Film Festival.

Later Career

Natasha Henstridge has played several roles on television including, Caracara and The Outer Limits. Then from 2005 to 2006, she repeated her role as the Speaker’s Chief of Staff in Commander in Chief, which starred Geena Davis as a fictional female U.S. president. Natasha Henstridge hosted Mostly True Storie: Urban Legends Revealed on TLC. She also co-starred as a substitute teacher in the first-season South Park episode, Tom’s Rhinoplasty and was credited as “the chick from Species”.

Natasha Henstridge completed the TV movie, Widow on the Hill for the Lifetime Channel. And in 2006, she filmed the Would Be Kings miniseries in Hamilton, Ontario which earned her a Gemini Award. Afterwards, she starred in the expansion set of the Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars video game titled Kane’s Wrath.

In 2008, Natasha Henstridge played a role in Eli Stone on the ABC comedy-drama series. She has also been a part of two more productions. Natasha Henstridge got married to Damian Chapa in 1995 and they got divorced in 1996. Thereafter, she dated Liam Waite from 1996 to 2004 and they had two sons (Tristan River and Asher Sky) together. Later on, she got into a relationship with Late Darius Campbell in 2004, they got engaged but broke it off in early 2010. In 2011, they got married on Valentine’s Day but filed for divorce in July 2013 which was later finalized in February 2018.

Natasha Henstridge discussed her prior use of diet pills in conjunction with extreme diets in June 2009. She said that this harmed her metabolism and resulted in weight gain later on.
