Biography
Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, known as Mohbad, was born on June 8th in Lagos State, Nigeria, and sadly left us on September 12, 2023. He loved music from a young age and wanted to make a name for himself in the music industry.
Imole was born and raised in Lagos State, Nigeria, and was proud of his Nigerian and African heritage. He belonged to the Yoruba, and his culture was an important part of his life. His father was a pastor who led a church community.
Mohbad’s journey in music showed his strong determination and talent. He started loving music at a young age and pursued it with great passion. His success in the Nigerian music scene was impressive.
Career
Mohbad started his journey in the music industry by getting involved in local music scenes. He loved singing and was also good at writing meaningful lyrics. When he was young, he discovered his passion for music and began trying out his lyrical skills. Controversy
In February 2022, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested MohBad, Zinoleesky, and four others at their home in Lekki, Lagos. They were found with illegal substances, including MDMA and cannabis.
Videos on social media went viral, showing NDLEA agents breaking into the musicians’ home in Lekki, Lagos State, during the early hours of a Thursday morning. Witnesses claimed that the agents arrested them without search warrants and treated the Marlian singers poorly. The NDLEA officers struck the musicians with clubs and fired into the air, forcing them into waiting trucks.
NDLEA confirmed the operation, saying, “Our men raided an area in Idado estate where Naira Marley’s associates reside.” A spokesperson for NDLEA reported finding cannabis and MDMA in their apartment and car. MohBad, Zinoleesky, and four others were eventually released.
Accusations Against Naira Marley and Sam Larry
Two years later, MohBad announced his departure from Marlian Records. On October 5, 2022, MohBad accused his manager, singer Naira Marley, of assaulting him. He claimed that his former boss ordered people to attack him after he expressed his intention to hire a different manager for his music and business affairs.
Following MohBad’s death, it was revealed that he had filed a police report in June 2023, alleging that Samson Balogun, a music promoter known as “Sam Larry” and a “close associate” of Marley’s, had assaulted him and damaged some of his property. According to the report, Larry had disrupted a video shoot, leading a group of 15 men armed with firearms and cutlasses who claimed to work for monarch Oba Elegushi. Police later stated that MohBad had not attended a subsequent meeting to address the allegations and that Balogun and others accused of the assault had filed a defamation complaint. Elegushi released a statement distancing himself from Balogun and expressing condolences on MohBad’s death.
Personal life and death
MohBad and his wife, Wunmi, had a son. MohBad passed away on 12 September 2023 at the age of 27 after receiving treatment for an infection according to Wikipedia. The police said they would look into how the singer died.
