Mark Zuckerberg posted his first tweet in a decade after threads launches

Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Meta, surprised everyone by tweeting for the first time in a decade. He used a Spider-Man meme to announce the launch of Threads, a Twitter competitor on Instagram. Threads became available to users in 100 countries on Wednesday. The app bears resemblance to Twitter in terms of functionality, prompting Zuckerberg to share the famous Spider-Man pointing at Spider-Man meme as a humorous gesture.

Zuckerberg’s tweet has garnered 12 million views as of now. Meanwhile, his last tweet was posted on January 18, 2012. In the first four hours of its launch, Threads attracted over five million users, and the number has already surpassed ten million, according to Zuckerberg’s post on the app.

Additionally, one of Zuckerberg’s initial posts on Threads outlined Meta’s ambitions to establish itself as the new digital town square, replacing Twitter. He expressed his belief that there should be a public conversations app with over a billion users, noting that Twitter had the opportunity but failed to achieve it. He hopes that Meta can fill that void.

Interestingly, Zuckerberg and Twitter CEO Elon Musk recently entertained the idea of a mixed martial arts cage match. The launch of Threads coincides with issues and outages on Musk’s Twitter account.

Even Musk, who uninstalled Instagram in 2018, joined the conversation by tweeting. He stated, “Being attacked by strangers on Twitter is infinitely preferable to indulging in the false happiness of hide-the-pain Instagram.”

Posts on Threads can be up to 500 words long and support higher-quality videos. Insider interviewed five creators who had early access to the app, and they praised its features but stated that they would still use Twitter alongside it.
