The Lagos State Police Command has announced that it has detained three students of Dowen College, Lekki, Lagos, in connection with the death of Sylvester Oromoni, a 12-year-old fellow student.

Hakeem Odumosu, the state Commissioner of Police, told Channels TV on Tuesday that the arrested students were part of the five said to have brutalised Sylvester, leading to his death.
However, he did not mention their names. Odumosu said the command would go for an autopsy in Delta State, and assured that both Lagos and Delta State police were cooperating to unravel the matter.
Earlier, the Lagos State Ministry of Education ordered the indefinite closure of the college to give room for investigation. It has also been rumoured that the parents of one of the accused boys rushed to Dowen to withdraw their son after learning of Sylvester’s death.
More so, it was reported that the parent has also hired Femi Falana, a foremost human rights lawyer and activist to prosecute the case against the institution over the unfortunate death of their son.
The lawyer has, therefore, written to the office of Lagos State’s chief coroner, requesting an inquest into the circumstances leading to the death of his client’s child.
