Kolo Toure was born in Bouake, Ivory Coast. He began his football at ASEC Mimosas, an Ivorian football club based in Abidjan. He moved to Arsenal in 2002 on a long-term contract for a fee of £150,000.
Toure made 326 appearances for the club scoring 14 goals. He was a member of the 03–04 ‘invincibles’ side, winning the Premier League in 2004; the FA Cup in 2003 and 2005; the FA community Shield in 2002 and 2004. He was also part of the team that got the UEFA Champions League Final in 2006.
Toure moved to Manchester City in 2009, he scored 3 goals in 102 appearances, helping the club earn its first league title in 44 years. They won also won the FA Community Shield in 2012.
Toure moved to Liverpool on a free transfer from Manchester City. He scored just a single goal in 71 appearances for the club and helped the team reach the UEFA Europa League and the English Football league Final.
In 2016, he joined Celtic on a one-year contract. He made 20 appearances for the club, winning Scottish Premiership and the Scottish League Cup in the same season. After the end of the season, he announced his retirement and took up a coaching role with the club.
