Biography
Katheryn Winnick was born in Etobicoke, Ontario On December 17, 1977, and she is of Ukrainian descent. While growing up, Ukrainian was her first language and she only started speaking English when she was 8 years old. At the age of 7, she started martial art training and got her first black bet when she was 13. When she was 21, she started three Taekwondo schools and she taught Taekwondo and self-defence to actors while completing her degree in Kinesiology at York University in Toronto. She is also an alumnus of the William Esper Studio. Katheryn Winnick started acting at a very young age at her community centre in Toronto. She also directed plays in her high school and won a scholarship for drama and directing whilst attending Richview Collegiate Institute.

Career
Katheryn Winnick initially was in the film industry teaching martial arts to actors on sets. However, her experience inspired her to pursue acting professionally, and she was soon afterwards, cast as a series regular on Student Bodies.
Afterwards, she appeared in several films including Stand Up Guys, Failure to Launch, Love & Other Drugs, and, Killers. Her numerous guest-starring roles were in plays including, House, The Glades, Bones, Law & Order, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, CSI, CSI: NY, CSI: Miami, Criminal Minds, Person of Interest, and, Nikita. Katheryn Winnick played Hannah Burley in Bones; Hannah Burley is a war correspondent who had been posted to cover the Afghanistan war happening at the time but becomes a love interest for Seeley Booth, the main character.
Katheryn Winnick afterwards starred in Cold Souls, a comedy-drama film which was premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2009. In 2011, she was cast in a guest role in Nikita. And in 2013, she starred in A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III, she also appeared in The Art of the Steal, and joined Vikings, starring as Lagertha, a legendary figure in Viking history.
In July 2017, Katheryn Winnick posted on her Twitter page that she had been cast for a role in what was thought to be a film project, and it would be announced at the San Diego Comic-Con International. Later, it was revealed that she is the main character in the Nazi Zombies mode of the video game, Call of Duty: WWII.
In July 2018, it was announced that Katheryn Winnick was cast in Wu Assassins as Christine “C.G.” Gavin. Then in February 2020, she was announced to be starring as Jenny Hoyt in Big Sky, an ABC drama series.
