All You Need To Know About IJMB

If you are here you must have heard that IJMB is another alternative to gain admission into the university aside from JAMB, here is all you need to know about the A-level program, and how it can be beneficial to you.

What is IJMB?

IJMB stands for  Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB), an A-level programme that enables you to secure admission into 200 levels of any university of your choice via direct entry.

The examination board was established in 1976 by the Interim Common Services Agency (ICSA) and moderated by Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria to cater to admission seekers in any Nigerian university without JAMB.

The programme at the initial stage was designed to provide an opportunity for candidates who cannot gain admission to regular degree programmes in Northern Universities due to different reasons.

How authentic is IJMB?

The IJMB program is accredited by the National University Commission (NUC) and the Federal Government of Nigeria has an Advanced level examination that qualifies students into 200 levels via Direct Entry.

Aside from its accreditation from the necessary authority, the IJMB certificate is popularly recognised and accepted in more than 80% of Nigeria federal, state and private Universities. Thus, prospective candidates can check (item 2.2) of JAMB BROCHURE to confirm its authenticity.

It is also imperative to note that about 20,000 applicants put in for the programme in which more than 70% fraction successfully secure admission with it into 200 level to their preferred institution & course.

How does the Programme work

Registered candidates are required to select any THREE (3) A/L IJMB Subject Combination identified with their preferred course of study in the university be it Science, Art or Social Science Course.

Candidates would then be lectured for the stipulated period at their respective Study Centre and thereafter sit for the final examination.

The programme runs for a maximum period of one academic session (9-10 months) divided into two (2) semesters. The registration for the program begins every January of every year and is closed by June when the session begins.

On completion of the programme, successful candidates accordingly utilize their IJMB certificate to secure admission into 200level in any Nigerian tertiary institution via Direct Entry.

Eligibility and requirements

The IJMB programme is open to all interested candidates nationwide, the major requirement for the program is your ordinary level result (WAEC, NECO & GCE). Before anyone can apply for IJMB, such must have completed his/her secondary school education.

However, candidates awaiting ordinary level results can also apply for the IJMB programme. Candidates who are rounding up secondary school can also apply for the programme.

Applicants are also required to present basic requirements such as passport photographs, a birth certificate, a functional e-mail and phone number

How to Apply for IJMB

To apply for the IJMB programme you have to visit www.ijmbenigeria.com to apply.  You will be required to fill out an online application form on the Website. Ensure that every information supplied is accurate and correct. False information will invalidate your admission at any point.

As stated in the last paragraph your O-level result (Awaiting Result is Accepted),  Passport Photograph, e-mail and phone number would be required

Thereafter, you are to proceed to pay the application fee sum of 7,500 through the secured online payment system. After successful payment, you will receive an e-mail containing your Login Details to access your student portal.

Candidates are expected to PRINT the Application Slip forwarded to their e-Mail and proceed to their respective chosen study centre address for clearance and resumption on the date stated on their Admission Letter.

IJMB FEES

The total cost for the IJMB program may vary depending on the Study centre the student is assigned to as the tuition fees are subsidized and somewhat cheaper in some study centres than what is obtainable at any other institution.

Here is an approved payment structure for the programme as stated on the board website.

Hostel Accommodation (Optional) 25,000 – 50,000 Amount varies by study centre location and numbers of occupants in a room.

It is however important for applicants to note that the application and clearance fee payments are to be strictly made online via the website only and not to any persons or accounts.

Payment of tuition and other fees are to be made only when the applicants have resumed at the assigned study centre and should ensure the receipt for any payment made are kept.

It is also important to note that the tuition fees can be paid in instalments.
