The Nigerian Ambassador to Spain, Ademola Rasaq Seriki is dead

The late Ambassador died on Thursday, at about 2 am in Madrid, from cancer.

His family confirmed the sad development in a statement on Thursday.

“Innā lillāhi-wa-innā-ilayhi-rājiun

“It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude to Almighty Allah that we announce the loss of our much loved and admired patriarch, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, His Excellency, Ambassador Ademola Rasaq Atanda Seriki (CON) on December 15th, 2022.

“He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in Madrid, Spain,” the statement, signed by his Children.

Ademola Rasaq Seriki, CON, (30 November 1959 – 15 December 2022)was a Nigerian politician, teacher, businessman, and public administrator. He served until his death as the Nigerian ambassador to Spain, a position he assumed in January 2021, with concurrent accreditation as a permanent representative of Nigeria to the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). He previously served as Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence.

The 61-year-old also previously worked at the Rochester, New York, firm of Koskolowsky and Co. (certified public accountants), as Assistant Manager (Auditing) From 1986 to 1987. He was also a Customer Representative/Assistant Manager at Dollar Dry Dock Bank, in New York City.

On returning to Nigeria, Seriki joined Equity and Trust Finance Company Limited, from 1987, as a business manager until he was appointed chairman of the Lagos State Sports Council in 1992; a position he held until 1994.

Tinubu sends condolence message to Late Ademola Seriki’s family

Meanwhile, The Presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress(APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has sent a condolence message to the family of the Late Ademola Seriki on his Twitter page.

The post reads in part ” I’m deeply saddened and disturbed by the passing in the early hours of Thursday of Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain, H.E Ademola Rasak Seriki. A Nigerian patriot and prominent Lagosian, Ambassador Seriki was my friend, brother, and close associate.
