GTBank Drags Popular Influencer VeryDarkMan into Police Net Over Complaint About Phantom Loan Deductions

Popular social commentator and activist, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has reportedly been arrested by officers of the Nigeria Police Force in Abuja, shortly after calling out Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) for unauthorized deductions from his mother’s account.
According to his lawyer, Barrister Deji Adeyanju, the arrest took place at Area 3, Abuja, following a heated complaint the influencer made on social media, where he accused GTBank of debiting his mother multiple times under the guise of loan repayments she allegedly never took.

“My client was arrested simply for speaking out about repeated debits from his mother’s account for loans she never took,” Adeyanju said.
Before his arrest, VeryDarkMan had shared a series of posts showing transaction receipts and evidence of over seven suspicious deductions within the year. He narrated that he and his mother had visited a GTBank branch in Abuja to demand clarity and request a comprehensive statement of account to trace the origin of the alleged deductions.
“The staff were actually cooperating,” he wrote. “We wanted answers, and the bank promised to check through her records.”
