Biography

Fuse ODG was born in London and raised in Ghana, he returned to London for his secondary education, where he attended the Archbishop Lanfranc School, Croydon.

Fuse began his musical career in 2013, releasing his debut single “Antenna”, which peaked at number 7 on the UK Singles Chart and number 85 on the Irish Singles Chart. In the same year, he released another single “Azonto”, which peaked at numbers 30 and 38  on the UK Singles Chart and the Scottish Singles Chart, respectively.

He then released “Million Pound Girl (Badder Than Bad)”, which peaked at number 5  and 65 on the UK and Irish  Singles Chart respectively. Concluding the year, he was awarded ‘Best African Act’ at the MOBO Award’s 18th Anniversary. He also won four awards at the Urban Music Awards 2013.

In  2014 Fuse ODG released “Dangerous Love”, featuring Sean Paul. It peaked at number 3, 4 and 55 on the UK Scottish and Irish Singles Chart. His next single, “T.I.N.A.” featuring British R&B artist Angel, was released on 19 October 2014. The track  features on his debut album of the same name.

Fuse ODG debut album, T.I.N.A., an acronym for “This Is New Africa”, was released on 3 November 2014, the album peaked at number 25 on the UK Albums Chart and 63 in Scotland. The album includes all five singles and is presently certified silver by the British Phonographic Industry for 60,000 certified sale.

In 2015  He just two singles “Only” and “Top my Charts”. He also featured on Tinchy Stryder’s single “Imperfection”, on Angel’s single “Leyla. In 2016, he collaborated with British Asian artist Zack Knight and Indian rapper Badshah. They came together and composed an African/Indian soundtrack, Bombae.

He went hiatus, untill the release of his 2019 album  titled New Africa Nation. Fuse is one of the most streamed artists on the continent only behind Wizkid and Burna boy. According to Wikipedia, the stage name “Fuse” comes from his fusion of musical styles, as he is known for his unusual combination of genres such as Afro-pop, hip-hop, R&B, funk and rock. “ODG”, meanwhile, stands for ‘Off Da Ground’.

It is imperative to note that  Fuse ODG is a recipient of numerous awards including the Grammys for his contribution to Ed Sheeran’s ‘Bibia Be Ye Ye’ on ‘Divide’ which won the ‘Best Pop Vocal Album’ Award.
