Emily VanCamp was born on the 12th of May, 1986 in Port Perry, Ontario. Her father, Robert VanCamp, is an animal nutritionist, and her first job was delivering food to clients for him. At the age of three, she started to dance. And at the age of 11, she was convinced she wanted to become a professional dancer and went ahead to persuade her parents to allow her to attend a summer training program in Montreal. When she was 12, she was accepted to the École supérieure de ballet du Québec, the training program of Les Grands Ballets Canadiens,[4][5] and moved in with a local French-Canadian family.

Early Career
In 1998, Emily VanCamp picked interest in acting after visiting her sister Katie on the set of Ladies Room. Afterwards, she started taking acting classes on Saturday afternoons and found an agent. Following, she worked on a few commercials, and was cast in the second part of a special three-part episode of the Canadian children’s horror anthology series Are You Afraid of The Dark? titled “The Silver Sight”.

Emily VanCamp has three sisters. She is a fluent French speaker and loves to be where the language pops. Also, she is an accomplished dancer who studied and trained in ballet, jazz, hip-hop, and a tap when she was a child. She credits her dance training with helping her through her fight scenes on Revenge. Emily VanCamp however, believes that if she had not gone into acting, she would have probably continued dancing or done something related to cooking.
