Former Adamawa North Senator, Elisha Abbo, has strongly criticized Senate President Godswill Akpabio, accusing him of putting the life of suspended Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, in danger. Abbo claims that Akpabio’s decision to strip Akpoti-Uduaghan of her security details and suspend her for six months was politically driven and reckless, putting her at significant risk.

Appearing on Arise News‘ PrimeTime Show, Abbo condemned Akpabio for his actions, stating that withdrawing her security was a dangerous move. Abbo argued that this went beyond a disciplinary action and exposed Akpoti-Uduaghan to potential harm.

The controversy began when Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended for failing to substantiate her sexual harassment allegations against Akpabio. However, Abbo contends that Akpabio’s response was disproportionate and could have resulted in serious harm to the suspended senator.

Abbo criticized Akpabio’s approach, saying: “He acted like an emperor, ordering the suspension, removal of her security, and even banning her from the National Assembly. In effect, he exposed her to possible death.”

The former senator also highlighted the action taken by the Inspector General of Police, who, recognizing the risks involved, sought to prevent potential danger to Akpoti-Uduaghan.

Additionally, Abbo pointed out a double standard, referring to a previous incident in the 8th Senate when Akpabio was not suspended after a verbal altercation with Senate President Bukola Saraki. He questioned why Akpabio imposed such severe measures on Akpoti-Uduaghan while he was not penalized for a similar situation.
