Early Life Career
In high school, West attended Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, Maryland. He played basketball exceptionally well and teamed up with future NBA player Eddie Basden. Together, they took the Roosevelt Raiders to their first state tournament. Although they reached the Maryland 4A championship game, the Raiders lost 70–58 despite Delonte’s impressive performance of 22 points and 8 rebounds. During his college years at Saint Joseph’s University, West, along with Jameer Nelson, who won the John R. Wooden Award and Naismith Award, formed one of the country’s best backcourts. As a junior, West averaged 18.9 points and 6.7 assists per game, with a 41% three-point shooting rate. Their combined efforts helped the 2003–04 Saint Joseph’s Hawks achieve an impressive 27-0 record in the regular season and reach the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament. Professional Career
Delonte West played for the Boston Celtics from 2004 to 2007. He joined as the 24th pick in the 2004 NBA draft. In his first year, injuries limited him to just 39 games, and he averaged 4.5 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game. He then became the starting point guard in the 2005–06 season.
