Dangote Refinery Begins Petrol Production
In a groundbreaking achievement for Nigeria’s energy sector, the Dangote Refinery has officially commenced petrol production, marking a significant milestone in the country’s quest for energy self-sufficiency.
“This refinery will fuel growth, development, and prosperity by supplying energy to our people,” said billionaire industrialist Aliko Dangote during a press briefing on Wednesday.
Dangote expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu’s government for creating an enabling environment for the $20 billion project, which is expected to alleviate the ongoing petrol scarcity and provide relief to millions of Nigerians.
“I salute the people of Nigeria and President Bola Tinubu’s government for creating the conditions that allowed us to achieve this monumental task. This refinery will drive growth, development, and prosperity by providing energy to our people,” Dangote stated.
He praised the administration’s “Naira for crude, Naira for product” initiative, which aims to stabilize the Naira by reducing dollar demand by 40%.
The commencement of petrol production at the Dangote Refinery is a significant step towards addressing Nigeria’s longstanding fuel supply and foreign exchange challenges, promising a brighter economic future for the nation.
