Clark Knobel Hunt, born on February 19, 1965, is the son of Norma and Lamar Hunt. Lamar, a trailblazer in American football, founded the Chiefs, originally as the Dallas Texans, and moved them to Kansas City before Clark was born.
After attending St. Mark’s School of Texas, Clark graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1987. He excelled as captain of SMU’s esteemed soccer team and earned Academic All-American honors. His focus was on finance within his business administration degree.
Clark then transitioned to working with his father’s ventures in Dallas after a stint as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs.
Career
Clark’s father, Lamar, attempted to purchase the NFL’s Chicago Cardinals in the late 1950s, wanting to relocate them to Dallas. When they were denied, Lamar and others like Bud Adams founded the American Football League. The Dallas Texans, Lamar’s team, won.
The NFL responded by introducing the Dallas Cowboys. However, Lamar concluded that Dallas couldn’t support two teams. He relocated them to Kansas City and renamed them the Chiefs in 1963.
Clark was voted Chairman and CEO by Lamar’s children after his death in 2006. Clark, a founding member of Major League Soccer, co-founded the Kansas City Wizards with his father and now owns FC Dallas. He also serves on the board of governors of the Major League Soccer.
