Chris started his career after moving to Nashville, Tennessee to start his music career. Only four days after the move, Chris then secured a publishing deal with Sea Gayle Music and subsequently began writing for big names in all genres including the likes of Tim McGraw, George Strait, Kenny Chesney , Lee Ann Womack, Brad Paisley and Dierks Bentley. . He wrote ‘If It Hadn’t Been For Love’ for Adele in 2001.

He then joined the bluegrass band The SteelDrivers, becoming its leader in 2007.
