Abdul Samad Rabiu received Nigerian army recognition award

Abdul Samad Rabiu, an African industrialist, philanthropist, and the chairman of the BUA Group, has been recognized by the Nigerian Army for his assistance to the Nigerian Army through the BUA Foundation and his own philanthropy, the Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa). At the 2022 Nigerian Army Chief of Army Staff Conference in Sokoto state, President Muhammad Buhari of Nigeria and Lt. General Faruk Yahaya, Chief of Army Staff, gave the award.

Abdul Samad Rabiu spoke and said: “Personally, I am very honored to have received this recognition award today. I thank the Nigerian Army for this recognition; it is a call to do more. Our security agencies are doing so much and have sacrificed a lot to keep us safe. We must acknowledge visible progress and support where we can as individuals and private sector”. He added urged other members of the corporate sector to band together and support clearly visible government initiatives in the areas of security and social development.

In his speech, the COAS, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, listed the many accomplishments of the Nigerian Army and expressed gratitude to prominent Nigerians, other security organizations, and the government for supporting the Nigerian Army in its mission to protect Nigeria’s territorial integrity and sovereignty from external aggression while also assisting civil authorities in reducing internal security challenges in the nation.

The Nigerian Army lists Abdul Samad Rabiu’s contributions as including a 2 billion Naira donation to the Army, plans to renovate and equip science laboratories as well as libraries in 6 command secondary schools throughout Nigeria, infrastructure development, and barracks renovation, among other things.

In related news, BUA Group/ASR Africa won three awards at the 16th Annual Africa CSR Awards (SERAS) for advancing social impact and sustainable development through a variety of ASR Africa and BUA Foundation projects in the year under review, including “Best Company in Social Impact and Human Capital Advancement in Africa,” “Impact Investor of the Year,” and “Best Company in Infrastructure Development.” Abdul Samad Rabiu was named the CEO of the Year (2022).
