New York (NY) is a densely populated city in the United States of America. With a population of millions, New York remains the largest metropolitan area in the world. With New York’s population, different types of people also appear. Considered the financial and cultural capital of the world, the city has produced several figures in the entertainment industry, most notably in the film industry. It’s impossible to narrow the list of great New York actors to ten. There are some up and coming actors who have made good names for themselves and older ones who would never retire. Let’s find out if your favorite made the cut.

1. Eddie Murphy

Edward Regan Murphy is a Brooklyn, New York City born singer, screenwriter, actor and comedian. His career began as a performer on Saturday Nightlife. While working as a stand-up comedian, he ranked high on Comedy Central ‘s “100 Greatest Stand-Ups of All Time” . He received several nominations for his superior performances in the films The Nutty Professor , 48 Hours , Trading Places and Dream Girls . He’s also sung in a lot of the movies we love, including the Shrek series.

2. Tom Cruise

Thomas Cruise Mapother was born in Syracuse, New York. He works as an actor and film producer. He started his career with the film, but never broke through until he starred in the comedy film A Risky Business A few years into his career he received the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture and starred in a drama that won an Oscar for Best Picture Rainman. His act in the well-known Task: Impossible 2 earned him an MTV Movie Award for “Best Male Actor” for the film. He has featured in all Mission Impossible films since then.

3. Denzel Washington

Denzel Hayes Washington Jr. was born in Mount Vernon, New York. In the film Fame , a historical war drama film he made in 1989. Washington Jr. received an Oscar for “Best Supporting Actor” for this film. He received another award for his role in the thriller Training Day where he was a corrupt detective. He made his directorial debut in 2002 with Antwone Fisher , a former biographical film. He directed the film Fences A film in which he also acted won it in 2016 with several awards and nominations.

4. Adam Sandler

Adam Richard Sandler was born in Brooklyn, New York. He is a comedian, screenwriter, actor, musician and film producer. He began his acting career in 1995 with Billy Madison an American comedy film Lucky Gilmore , a sports comedy he acted a year later that saw widespread play into the 21st century. He voiced Dracula in all Hotel Transylvania animated films. Jack and Jill and several other films he was in have received serious criticism. He was also nominated for Golden Globe and has won multiple awards for his magnificent acting.

5. Bill Duke

Actor, director, screenwriter and producer William Henry Duke Jr. was born in Poughkeepsie, New York. He is widely known for his works in the crime genres, but has made occasional appearances in comedy. He starred in Predator and Commando , a film that also starred Arnold Schwarzenegger. In most of his actions, his characters are prone to prosecution. He has also appeared in television series such as American Playhouse and The Twilight Zone . He also put a hand in the directing field when he directed the film Sister Act 2.

6. Allan Rich

Benjamin Norman Schultz was born in The Bronx,New York. He is a character actor, acting coach and activist. In the Hollywood blacklist of the 1950s, Allan Rich was one of the numerous communist sympathizers blacklisted during this period. He has appeared in several films and television shows since 1973. His films include Serpico , Uncle Joe Shannon , Voices , Highlander II : The Animation , Intoxicating , The Alibi , My Sexiest Year , and Raining Stars . His first television show wasThe San Pedro Beach fire in 1977. He is known as one of the hardest working and most distinctive actors in Hollywood.

7. Dana Delany

Danna Welles Delany was born and resides in New York City, New York. She works as an American actress and film producer. Her career began in the 1980s and didn’t really take off until she landed a role on the ABC drama China Bleach. She received the Primetime Emmy Award for “Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series” twice for her role in China Bleach . Her other appearances in Sleepers , a 1992 film, True Women and Wide Awake earned her greater recognition in the film industry. In 2007 she began her role as Katherine Mayfair in Desperate Housewives, an ABC television series. She has since appeared in several other drama series.

8. Connie Stevens

Singer, actress, director, screenwriter, cinematographer, editor and producer Concetta Rosalie Ann Ingoglia was born in Brooklyn, New York. Her first film role was in Young and Dangerous in 1957 . She acted in other films such as Eighteen and Worried and television shows such as The Bob Cummings Show before taking her hiatus in late 1957 when she signed a seven-year contract with Paramount Pictures. Connie starred in Rock It A Faraway Baby and The Party Crashers . She rose to fame after signing a seven-year contract with Warner Bros. and starring in the television series Hawaiian Eye. She was always busy with various projects in her music and film career.

9. Jeff Fahey

Jeffrey David Fahey was born in Olean, New York. He works as an American film and television actor. Fahey did not perform until he received a scholarship to a ballet school at the age of 25. His first television role was in a soap opera A Life to Live , where he played Gary Corelli. His first starring role in films was in the 1985 film Silverado. He has appeared in several films such as Planet Terror , The Marshal and Apocalypse II: Revelation. He starred with Bruce Payne in Releases in 2007.

10. Bill Pullman

William James Pullman was born in Hornell, New York. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a “Master of Fine Arts” in theater. Reckless People , his film debut was released in 1986. He has acted in several other films including the very popular The Equalizer (2014), Independence Day: Resurrection (2016) and The Equalizer 2 (2018). He has also been featured on several television shows including 1600 Penn .
