Polytechnic can be split into two words namely “POLY” and “TECHNIC”.

POLY is an English word that means many or more than one.

TECHNIC, on the other hand, is synonymous with technique which refers to the skillful or efficient way of achieving something.

Difference between Polytechnic and Monotechnic

The gap between Polytechnic and monotechnic is so close in this part of the world that it is difficult to say that some schools are monos rather than polys.

The difference is that Monotechnic is a higher education technical college, while a polytechnic is a multiple discipline technical college that provides higher technical education and training.

More confusion is created because those monotechnics are now going for more courses more than they were created for.

Polytechnics are equally suffering the same fate as more non-engineer are been added to their first list of programs e.g Mass communication, Banking, and finance, accounting, etc. are studied at polytechnic even though they are taken by universities.

Polytechnic can be pardoned for this because their name indicates many or more than one in the first place.

Having discussed the difference between polytechnics and monotechnics, let’s talk about the benefits of each of them.
