Tobi Amusan Medals Record And Career Achievements In Details
Tobi won gold medals in the 100 m hurdles and the 200 m. Additionally, she got a silver medal in the long jump at the C-USA Championships. Amusan made history by running the hurdles in 12.83 seconds at the El Paso UTEP Invitational, breaking Kim Turner’s UTEP record that had lasted for 33 years.
2018: Commonwealth and African champion
Amusan achieved her personal best time of 7.89 seconds in the 60m hurdles at the beginning of her 2018 season. She represented her country in the Birmingham World Indoor Championships and made it to the final. At the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Amusan surprised everyone by winning the race by a clear margin, beating the favorite, Danielle Williams. 2021: First Nigerian Diamond League champion
Amusan came in fourth place at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, finishing with a time of 12.60 seconds. Afterward, she participated in the Zürich Diamond League final and emerged as the winner, setting a new African record of 12.42 seconds. This achievement surpassed the previous record of 12.44 seconds held by her fellow Nigerian athlete, Glory Alozie, for 23 years.
