Biography
Aliaune Damala Badara Akon Thiam but fondly called Akon to Wolof descent in Senegal on 16 April 1973. He was born into a Muslim family of Mor Thiam a percussionist and Gueye Thiam a dancer.
Akon spent his childhood in Senegal and he learned how to play some instruments like drum, guitar, and djembe. At seven, he relocated to Union City, New Jersey with his family. He attended William L. Dickinson High School New Jersey.
His career began when Stephens Devyne signed him to his production company and began grooming him professionally. This led to the release of his first debut album “Trouble” in 2004. With Locked Up as a single on his first debut album, Akon rose to prominence.
In an interview with the Blender, Akon made it known that he has 6 children from three different women whom he shares a good relationship with. However, Akon with a net worth of $80 million is married to Tomeka Thiam.

Career
Akon who learned how to play musical instruments at younger age began his musical career in 2004 after joining Stephens production company.
He rose to prominence in 2004 following the release of “Locked Up”, the first single from his debut album Trouble, followed by the second single “Lonely”.
In 2006, he released his second album titled “Konvicted”, the album received three award nominations. “Smack That” and “I Wanna Love You” which are singles on the album became Billboard Top 100 top ten hits.
