Actor Adewale Alebiosu Reveals How Playing The Role of ‘Babalawo’ in Movies Affected Him in Real Life

- He stated that whenever he finishes up filming and returns home, he is always attacked by goat-like creatures in his dreams
- Then, he urged aspiring actors who intend to take up such roles in the future to be extremely cautious and be prayerful
Adewale Alebiosu, a prominent Nollywood actor famed for portraying a native doctor or Ifa priest in Yoruba films, has said that some of the incantations he recited in those films had an impact on him in real life.
Alebiosu recently spoke with BBC Yoruba about his experience. He claimed that he didn’t realise the incantations would negatively affect him in reality; he just assumed he was performing his job as an actor. He claimed that whenever he returned home after appearing in such films, he would dream that he was being bitten by odd beings that resembled goats.

“I never knew there was so much more to the incantations I was delivering. I thought I was just delivering my lines, not knowing there are repercussions to follow. Whenever I get home after the act, while I sleep I would see some strange beings and some would turn to goats and start biting me.” He said.
He also advised aspiring actors who are interested in taking on such movie roles to exercise extreme caution and to seek God’s guidance because the consequences could be catastrophic.
“I’m saying this to warn them so that they don’t end up regretting their lives or ending up miserably”, he said.
