A traditional wedding reception held under a flyover in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has attracted attention online after comedian McDaveComedy filmed his reaction to the unusual venue.

The video, shared widely on social media including by Instablog9ja on August 29, 2026, shows the wedding setup beneath the Rumuokuta Flyover on NTA Road.

McDaveComedy, also known as Diary of McDave, walked around the venue while expressing surprise at the setting.

Rows of chairs with yellow sashes, decorated tables, yellow and orange drapes, speakers and a large event banner had been arranged beneath the concrete structure.

The banner identified the couple as Miriam Nchelem Dike and Perfect Alechi Amadi and carried the event name “perfmiriam2026”. The traditional marriage reception was scheduled for Friday, August 28, 2026, at the Agip fuel station junction by the Rumuokuta Flyover.

Nigerians React to Venue

The video has generated mixed reactions, with some Nigerians praising the couple for choosing an affordable venue rather than spending heavily on an event hall.

Supporters of the decision described it as practical, particularly at a time when the cost of renting event centres has increased. Some argued that couples should focus on the marriage itself rather than going into debt to organise an elaborate ceremony.
