Moses Adebisi, presidential candidate of the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA), has declared that he will become Nigeria’s youngest president at 35 if elected in the 2027 general elections, while expressing confidence that he can defeat the Bola Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress (APC).
Adebisi made the declaration during an appearance on Arise News’ The Morning Show on Thursday, August 27, 2026, from the Abuja Broadcast Centre.
Adebisi Challenges Tinubu’s APC
The presidential candidate said his age would make him the youngest president in Nigeria’s history if he wins the 2027 election.
“At 35, I will become Nigeria’s youngest president in 2027. I have the capacity to defeat the Bola Tinubu-led APC government in 2027,” he said.
Adebisi also described himself as “the youngest presidential candidate” and the “incoming president” of Nigeria.
Who Is Moses Adebisi?
Adebisi is a United States-based entrepreneur and an indigene of Ayedaade Local Government Area of Osun State.
During the interview, he described himself as a PhD candidate at Harvard University’s Department of Government, where he said he is studying political thought and history.
He said his decision to contest the presidency followed his study of political success and national transformation in countries including China and the United States. He referenced China’s 1978 economic reforms and said he visited Beijing and Shanghai as part of his efforts to understand the country’s transformation.
Adebisi also pointed to his previous involvement in empowerment programmes for low-income market women and young Nigerians, as well as grassroots digital literacy initiatives.
DLA Confirms Adebisi as Candidate
The DLA formally affirmed Adebisi as its presidential candidate for the 2027 election through a substitution primary process monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He replaced Barrister Samuel M. Memeh, the party’s former presidential candidate, who voluntarily stepped aside and remains the party’s National Chairman.
Party officials in Lagos, Osun and other states have presented the change as part of efforts to promote what they describe as ethical, competent and inclusive leadership.
Candidate Outlines Priorities
Adebisi has identified improved living standards, corruption, insecurity, industrialisation, compulsory education, national unity and youth economic empowerment among the issues he intends to prioritise if elected.
The DLA, which was registered by INEC in 2026, has also promoted grassroots participation and a political agenda centred on equity, justice, economic inclusion and national transformation.
The party is seeking to build support ahead of the January 16, 2027 presidential election, where Adebisi faces the challenge of competing against established political parties and better-known candidates.
His latest comments have generated mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians focusing on his age and confidence, while others questioned whether the relatively new DLA has the political structure required to challenge the APC at the national level.
