Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, is battling stage-four cancer, with his daughters appealing for urgent medical assistance and treatment options.
The actor’s daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, made separate emotional appeals on Instagram on Monday, August 17, 2026, saying hospitals had stopped his chemotherapy and were unwilling to continue treatment.
Daughters Reveal Actor’s Condition
Lima said the family only became fully aware of the seriousness of Hassan’s condition about three weeks ago, despite his appearance not initially showing the extent of the illness.
She described the cancer as “really, really bad” and said hospitals had refused to continue treating him. Lima stressed that the family was not asking for money but wanted recommendations for hospitals, doctors or medical professionals who could take on his case.
According to her, a relative had already provided significant support to the family during the difficult period.
Kira Confirms Stage-Four Diagnosis
Kira also confirmed that her father had been diagnosed with stage-four cancer and said doctors told the family that chemotherapy could no longer be administered.
She described Hassan as being in severe pain, with a swollen stomach, and said the actor had expressed his desire to stay alive.
Kira also acknowledged the support of Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, who she said had assisted the family and covered medical bills.
Family Seeks Cancer Treatment Options
The sisters appealed to people with access to reputable cancer treatment facilities or qualified medical professionals to contact them with possible options.
Their appeals focused on finding appropriate treatment rather than soliciting financial donations, with the family seeking anyone capable of helping them access further medical care.
Ogogo’s Four-Decade Career
Hassan, born on October 31, 1959, in Ilaro, Ogun State, is one of the established figures in Yoruba-language Nollywood.
The actor has spent more than four decades in the industry and has appeared in more than 300 films. He is widely known by his stage name, Ogogo.
As of the latest reports, Hassan’s family and management had not released a detailed statement identifying the specific type of cancer or the hospital where he was receiving treatment.
