Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has accused President Bola Tinubu of “killing democracy” amid reports of security concerns during the Osun State governorship election on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

Davido, who is the nephew of Governor Ademola Adeleke, made the allegation in a post on X as voting continued across the state.

Davido Targets Tinubu

Reacting to reports about security arrangements during the election, Davido wrote: “Because we are winning. They want to withdraw the police and military! MR PRESIDENT TINUBU! UR KILLING DEMOCRACY.”

The singer did not provide further details in the post about the alleged plan to withdraw security personnel or identify the source of the information.

Davido has openly backed his uncle, who is seeking re-election under the Accord Party, and has remained active in the political conversation surrounding the poll.

Singer Raises Election Concerns

Before Saturday’s election, Davido urged electoral officials to use the front camera on BVAS machines if the main camera failed during accreditation.

He also called on local and international observers to closely monitor the election and previously appealed for a free and fair process.

His latest post came as voters continued casting their ballots across Osun, with security agencies deployed to maintain order and protect polling locations.
